better.... i think

thanks for all your well-wishes! emma is better now and has resumed taking her solids again :D on the other hand, the bug seems to have been passed back to ethan (aargh!) and he has been hacking non-stop, waking up several times a nite cos of either his blocked nose, or the cough... when will this virus get out of our lives!?!

took this shot of him in the car just the other day. as u can see, he was not in the best of moods. now, i just hope he gets better soon and that the bug vanishes completely from our household!
by the way, did i mention that ethan's already started going to childcare for 2 days a week now? and it's SO true what they say about how your child will always have a runny nose, cough, blah blah... as soon as they start childcare, cos he was perfectly fine till he started. but some things just can't be avoided, and all i can hope for is a strengthened immune system for him!
anyway he initially loved going there cos there are plenty of toys, and a huge outdoor yard for them to run around n play. then... i think the reality started to sink in and he started protesting each time we tried to drop him off. well... i think it's just part n parcel of growing up (ie being away from your parents) and being the intelligent little boy that he is, i'm sure he'll figure it out soon enough ;)
on another note, here's a vid that i'd wanted to share for quite some time now (just never got round to it cos of the superbug :P). i'd always thought toys were more fun when you had someone else to share them with - apparently ethan felt otherwise ;D

none left standing...

isn't it just great that the entire family's down with the virus! started off with the kids (as you would've known from my previous post) and then we caught it too :( the worst thing about being sick when you have kids is that you can't even get a proper rest cos you have gotta tend to them (the icing on the cake being the fact that they're SICK too!). so the last few days was pure torture ...

anyway i think the worst should be over now. ethan seems to be back to his lively energiser-bunny self, but emma's still got a bit of the bug left in her cos she keeps throwing up her milk and is refusing solids (she has lost soooo much weight just in this 1 episode, the poor thing!). i suspect it's the phlegm that's causing her all this discomfort (I can just hear it when she coughs). unfortunately, she's too young for any meds so we just have to let the body expel it naturally.

here she is taking a nap while waiting our turn at the doctor's...
please recover soon, baby!

at the farm

as i mentioned, we took the kids to the collingwood children's farm last sat. the weather was perfect - altho a tad too windy and so we had sand thrown into our faces occasionally :P

anyway have i told you before that ethan is turning out to be a really affectionate boy? he seems to love going up to other kids and hugging them - and he picks only the girls! well most times they just run away in fear, but some are rather obliging - and that's when ethan has a field day haha :D

the kids havent been feeling well these couple of days though. i think it might be the changing weather. both of them have got drippy little noses and nasty phlegmy coughs
that occasionally causes them to throw up :( i just hope they bounce back quickly cos there's really nothing much we can do...

happy 2nd birthday ethan

ok.. i'm glad i still made it to blog this ON ethan's birthday (another 2.5 hrs more and it'd have to be "happy belated..." instead.

anyway, we didnt celebrate in a big way. i went out and got some balloons, a thomas the train cake (how exciting) and gave him some presents which we had already stocked up during the target sale *yawn*. but who cares? the little guy still enjoyed himself tremendously - and i guess that's the beauty of a 2 yr old's innocence :) they just live for the moment and nothing else matters. he was so excited about his new thomas the train remote control toy (it even puffs out steam!) that he refused to go down for his usual nap. had to fight and struggle with him for a while b4 he finally KO'd (think he was too tired anyway).

we took him to the collingwood children's farm yesterday too as part of his birthday celebration :) will share all the photos in a separate post (still sorting thro them!) but i just wanted to get this in for today (yeah pretty anal, but i'm not like that all the time :P)

so stay tuned...

what a treat!

i never imagined my almost-9-mth-old baby girl would have her 1st taste of chocolate at such a tender young age.

well. it's not really my fault. i didnt INTENTIONALLY let her have it.

you see...

i'd prepped ethan's breakfast (nutella with bread) and left it on top of my mug of coffee on the breakfast table, ensuring I pushed it far away from emma where her 'tentacles' couldn't reach. i then took ethan to the loo (we just got a thomas the train potty set and were trying to toilet train him). this was only 10 min at most.

i came out of the loo, saw emma's face and thought "hmm.. what's that brown stuff on her face?". then i took a look at the table and ...yup. the coffee had spilled everywhere - including herself - while the cup was sitting on her lap in the highchair. and she was busy stuffing the coffee-soaked nutella bread into her mouth, as well as squishing it up with her other hand. very happily i might add.

so there... my little baby's had chocolate at almost 9-mths of age! (and coffee too :P)

father's day

daddy decided that we should all start the day real early today by having breakfast in south melbourne! the place we originally intended to have breakfast at unfortunately was fully booked (we didnt even realise they took bookings). luckily the cafes serving breakfasts were APLENTY in south melbourne and we still managed to locate a great place just next to the markets.

it was rare that by the time we finished, it was only about 11am, when usually it would have been 2pm :P what should we do with all this extra time on our hands? the weather was great and with such clear-blue skies, it would indeed be a pity to head home. so i decided to visit the RAAF museum. on the way there, we chanced upon the point cook coastal park and that was a real bonus cos it was absolutely refreshing :D cool breeze, warm sun... ethan definitely enjoyed his 1st experience at the seaside (well it was actually only a bay but its sheer size made it look like the open sea!). did emma like it? make a guess ;)
